DIDIER GARIC

What is your mission?

My mission is to act as the interface between the company and customer security managers. Supervise the security activity and the technical service responsible for installing alarms, video surveillance, etc.

How do you define security?

Private security must be understood in two ways. There are human resources, security, and technical means illustrated by cameras and other video surveillance and remote alarm devices. The ideal for optimum security is to have electronic security, burglar alarm, remote alarm and to have an additional security guard for a preventive presence to ensure access control and filtering.

At what level of the chain of command is the TD located?

I am between the commercial part and the invoicing. The DT manages everything that happens between prospecting and invoicing. The commercial part consists in finding new customers and the invoicing part, establishing the invoice for the services. At the same time, it is necessary to ensure that the security guards are in place, that they are in uniform, that they have the instructions and that they respect them. Once the installation is complete, it is necessary to verify that the work is carried out in the field. To do this, we have divided Abidjan into two areas supervised by supervisors.

Does the TD intervene in the agent training process?

No, this task is devolved to the trainers.

With the development of ICT, should we not fear a disappearance of physical security?

It will always be necessary because if we take the example of warehouses, the customer often asks that we monitor the correspondence between the number of packages in an exiting vehicle and the delivery note. Of course, this task can only be performed by an Agent.

I believe that physical security will not disappear given that most of the thefts committed are endogenous; it is the employees who are robbing their employers. This is more of what justifies the guard rather than the robberies. Guarding will not go away. There are tasks that require a human presence.

From physical security to electronic security, which one would you recommend?

There is in principle no choice to be made. The two are complementary. I would say that one does not go without the other. But for budgetary reasons, it is obvious that a choice will be made. The complementarity comes from the fact that for a villa or a warehouse, if the agent is attacked and he has no means of communication to warn the PC, this poses a problem. It is not consistent to post an agent and that the agent has no way to communicate with the outside.
