Mrs CHANTAL ZAHUI

“I joined Gardian’s as a secretary, but I also worked as a radio operator at the PC (command post). I only had one day to learn how to operate the radio. My trainer, Mr. Boblahin Bertin was a supervisor at the time and it was not easy to work with him because he did not tolerate any mistakes and was very rigorous. "

1. What does your job at Gardian’s consist of?

I receive visitors and announce them to the people visited. If they have an appointment, I accompany them or indicate the relevant personnel office. I receive the mails and save them in a notebook called "mail arrival" before placing them in the recipient's bin. I receive letters from all administrative staff and send them to the recipients. But first, I take care to record them in a notebook called "mail out". I enter some mail. I check in the administrative staff. I organize the files in the Technical Director's office and manage the switchboard.

2. How long have you been at Gardian’s?
I have been at Gardian’s since July 1999.

3. You are the first woman to join the Gardian's team but in a different position. Can you explain to us?

I joined Gardian’s as a secretary, but I also held the post of radio operator at the PC (command post). I only had one day to learn how to operate the radio. My trainer, Mr. Boblahin Bertin was a supervisor at the time and it was not easy to work with him because he did not tolerate any mistakes and was very rigorous. At that time, the pointing of the elements was done over the radio by the controllers and supervisors. The Director was also involved in the network. I was alone at my post and in addition to the switchboard, I managed the emergency phone (21-340-340). You had to be very careful. Thank goodness I was able to hold on and never received a request for an explanation. I even received congratulations from Mr. Boblahin when we had to separate the PC from the switchboard and I started working as secretary. It was an honor.

4. Have you ever been confronted with critical situations in the course of your work?
Yes, on internal phone calls and sometimes with vendors who complain when they want to speak with the accountant to find out about their payment status and I can't pass it on to them because he's too busy.

5. What did Gardian’s do for you?
Gardian’s has given me a lot. Among other things, my PC experience allowed me to learn how to use the radio. Gardian’s allows me to be independent, with a regular salary although this is not always enough.

6. How do you plan to improve the quality of your work at Gardian’s?
I would like to have a bigger and more efficient switchboard, a new autocom, the respect of the instructions related to the telephone calls by the personnel.
